1. an elevated level of general well-being, which allows people to devote themselves to useless activities;
2. a high degree of social atomization and, as a consequence, a general isoalation of individuals;
3. the absence of dramatic social changes in the nation's internal life. (From this point of view, it seems to me symptomatic that in France, where practically nothing happens, the percentage of writers is twenty-one times higher than in Israel.
.. The mainspring that drives her to write is just that absence of vital content, that void. But by a backlash, the effort affects the cause. General isolation breeds graphomania, and generalized graphomania in turn intensifies and worsens isolation. The invention of printing formerly enabled people to understand one another. In the era of universal graphomania, the writing of books has an opposite meaning: everyone surrounded by his own words as by a wall of mirrors, which allows no voice to filter through from outside. ...
One morning (and it will be soon), when everyone wakes up as a writer, the age of universal deafness and incomprehension will have arrived..."
Sounds like a good book(!!!), doesn't it? [Link]
I think with Internet and Blogging this era has arrived a while ago...

During last few months I had a persistent problem with IE on Windows.
It was dying constantly. One of my guesses is that it had a problem with Sun's JVM. I even remember Microsof issued a patch for a similar problem. It didn't help me. What is interesting two of my Windows machines displayed similar symptoms...
Then I found that there is Internet Explorer 7 RC version! And OH BOY... Things are so much different now. Nothing hangs and it seems that the browser itself is much faster. It also has a bunch of new features. The interface is a bit different but I figured how to tune it up for my taste pretty quickly.

I know the set of extra utilities like that existed from early days of Windows. Just found the updated list. (See Related Link)
I am using the RAW viewer since a while ago but other small things like ALT+TAB replacement tool is pretty good.
I totally love the Virtual Desktop Manager! It actually brings me closet to usual *nix way of dealing with desktop apps.

This new project I have started out as development on Linux. It usually makes me pretty happy since I always considered it being much easier than dealing with Windows. However, life managed to "deep" me into working with Windows. It is sort of anti-ideology thing but the world is changing. No no, I am not going to give up on the old good *nix world but it seems like there is a chance for the opportunity. After all it never hurts to know more :).
Long story short, after learning more about existing part of the application I realized to my own amusement that it really doesn't make much sense to do it on Linux at all. A part of the existing application is ASP / VB and thinking about connecting Windows application parts to Linux didn't really draw any pretty pictures in my head.
I am sure there are ways like web services etc, but what about possible performance issues. My doubts can be a result of my own ignorance, but hey! I deal with what I have :). I wish some altruistic Mr. Brainius-Enormous showed himself in the comments but I doubt anybody reads what I write here.
First, there are many .NET ports around for many *nix apps. It is great news. God bless those developers who skip hours of their sleep doing that. Ports are somewhat behind, but it is almost logical and I do not find that it upsets me too much.
Couple of days before I found that there is a Windows port for Squid Proxy. I searched news groups and it seems it can more or less happily coexist with IIS. I am very curious to try.
Soo... To be continued...
PS: and yes, I do still think that Visual Basic is evil!

After cleaning, defragmenting, and all usual things didn't do much I found PageDefrag freeware tool which did miracles in combination with extending size for the pagefile.sys
